Please use the following blade application chart as a general reference guide for best performance when cutting mixed granites and marbles. Spindle RPM can alter blade’s cutting characteristics.

Water Flow and Volume

Water flow and volume are very important to the performance of a blade. Never run a diamond blade dry unless it is designed to be run dry. However, changing the amount of water can alter the blade’s cutting characteristics.

Core Bits

Below are general RPMs for core bits running at optimum performance levels. Levels may vary depending on the manufacturer. It is important to note that running core bits at faster RPMs isn’t always necessary. When diamond tools exceed their recommended speed, the diamonds tend to glaze over and the tool fails to work properly. To fx this, core bits can often be redressed using a conditioning stick. The same rule is applied if using water. Excessive amounts of water can cause the tool to work at a less-than optimal level.

1/4" - 3/8" diameter - 3,500 RPM
1/2" - 3/4" diameter - 2,000 RPM
1" - 1-1/2" diameter - 1,200 RPM
1-3/4" - 3" diameter - 900 RPM
4" - 6" diameter - 400 RPM

Polishing Pads

Below are common RPM guidelines for optimum performance levels of various polishing pads. In general, when pads are used on grinders operating between 9,000 – 15,000 RPMs, the pads will glaze and the optimum polish will not occur.

Granite Dry 3,000 RPMs
